Abstract

Assertiveness is a complex behavior displayed by individuals in an interpersonal context that expresses the individual's feelings about attitudes, desires, opinions or rights directly, firmly, and honestly while respecting the feelings, attitudes, desires, opinions and rights of other individuals. The purpose of this study was a description of assertiveness in students social media users in Padang City. The research method used in this research is descriptive quantitative research method. Data collection was carried out using the Assertiveness scale which is a modification of the Assertiveness scale compiled by Kulsum (2013). The test results of the Assertiveness scale showed the acquisition of Cronbach's Alpha (α) of 0.895. The sampling technique in this research is to use voluntary sampling technique. The research subjects consisted of 404 students social media users in Padang City. From the results of the study, the overall mean value of the subject was 122.69 which was in the category of low assertive ability. Keywords: Asertiveness, Students, Social Media
