Abstract

This research aims to analyze the expressive speech acts in Nawid Yosufi’s TikTok video. The aim of this research is to identify the types of expressive speech acts and find out the functions of expressive speech acts in videos interview in Nawid Yosufi’s TikTok Account. The data were collected by making transcription of the three videos interview selected and marking utterances that contain expressive speech acts in the conversations. The data were analyzed by using the theory of the type of speech acts by Ronan (2015) and the theory of the function of expressive speech acts by Searle and Vanderveken (1985). These theories are used to identify the types and functions of expressive speech acts in the conversations in videos interview in Nawid Yosufi’s TikTok Account. The data were presented by using tables that describes the results of the data appearing and the amount of data based on the types and used descriptive methods to present the analysis results and explain the data findings. Based on this research, there are 53 utterances found in the conversations in three videos interview. The researcher found 7 types of expressive speech acts. The type of agreement is the most dominant expressive speech acts in this research with the percentage 55%. The most dominant function of expressive speech acts in this research is function to praise with the percentage 32%. It shows that people tends to show positive attitude in the video interview to make a positive impression on the hearer and the viewers.
