Abstract
ABSTRACT Pregnancy women have experienced weight gain during pregnancy as a form of body adaptation during pregnancy, but an excess weight can lead to an increase maternal blood pressure. High blood pressure during pregnancy is one of the leading causes of death. This study discussed corelation of weight gain pregnant women to blood pressure. The method of research used pearson correlation test with crossectional design. The data was obtained by the result of antenatal care examination from Maternal Child Health (MCH) book, the number of samples was 56 pregnant women, with data taken from January 2018 to March 2019 at Air Tawar Health Center. The result showed that the increase in body weight of pregnant women in the normal range with an overall average 10,34 kg (+ 2,35 SD), the groups with higher weight gain had higher blood pressure values. The systolic and diastolic blood pressure of this study were in the normal range with an overall average 105,60 mmHg ( + 10,42 SD) and 70,86 mmHg ( +6,63 SD). There was an increase in the average systolic blood pressure in every trimester while the average diastolic blood pressure decreases in the second trimester and increases again in the third trimester of pregnancy.Correlation test result r = 0,412 and r= 0,389 with p= 0,002 and p= 0,003. The study concluded that there was a corelation between weight gain of pregnant women with their blood pressure at term gestational age.
