Abstract

Colorectal carcinoma (CRC) is a leading cause of cancer-related morbidity and mortality in Indonesia and several other countries. Incidence rates of CRC are increasing every year. One of the factors that can cause it is obesity. This study aims to discuss the association between obesity and CRC and knowing the frequency distribution of patients based on age, gender and family history. The type of this study was an observational analytic using a retrospective approach. This research took place from April to July 2020 in the Medical Record Installation of RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang with 56 people total sample and this study used a simple random sampling technique. This study was conducted by looking at the Body Mass Index (BMI) of patients obtained through the calculation of the patient's height and weight data in the medical record. The results showed that among 43 CRC patients, there were 25 people (58.1%) who were obese before getting sick. Most CRC patients were 50 years old, as many as 37 people (86%) and especially in the age group 61-70 years as many as 21 people (48.8%). CRC patients were more often found male, there are 29 people (67.4%) and do not have a family history are 37 people (86%).
