Abstract
Early detection is the first step in breast cancer prevention which targets can be done at the age of adolescence, early detection in adolescents needs to be done through peer educators because adolescents prefer information derived from peers rather than parents or teachers. So that the material presented can improve the awareness, attitude and practice of BSE. This study aims to describe health education with peer education patterns regarding BSE knowledge, attitudes, and practices. Quasi-experimental research designs with pre-test and post-test in the intervention group and the control group. A sample of 240 young women respondents (120 for the intervention group and 120 for the control group). Data collection using a questionnaire. The statistical test used uses the Wilcoxon test. The results showed that there were differences between before and after health education with peer patterns in the intervention group, knowledge (p = 0,000), attitude (p = 0,000) and BSE practice (p = 0,000). Based on this research it can be concluded that the pattern of peer education regarding breast self-examination is very influential in increasing the knowledge, attitude and practice of BSE so it is very important to detect early symptoms of breast cancer. It is recommended that the Padang 3 High School cadre hold students on an on-going basis to become peer educators teaching BSE examination.
