Abstract

This thesis analyzes Alex Irvine's novel entitled Transformers: Exiles. The aim of this research is to examine the impact of war aftermath towards refugees, displacement, and utopia. This research is conducted using the theory of Marxist criticism and Political Unconscious by Fredric Jameson, combined with mimetic approach by M.H. Abrams. The research reveals the refugees and their struggles are the impact of war aftermath. Displacement is the most significant problems among the refugees. The feeling of stranded and alienated from their environment can affect their idealization of utopia.
