Abstract

Cardiovascular disease is the main cause of death in Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) patients. CKD patients have chronic inflammation that affects miocard and vascular to remodel and eventually reduce functional capacity, it is vital to evaluate via a test called the Six-minute walking test (SMWT). This test is chosen because it is assumed that SMWT represents daily activities better. This study aims to provide an overview of SMWT in CKD Non-Dialysis (CKD-ND) patients. A descriptive study with cross-sectional design was conducted on 44 non-dialysis CKD patients undergoing SMWT. Purposive sampling was used to collect the sample based on inclusion criteria. This study utilized primary data based on walking distance from SMWT and secondary data from the medial records of CKD-ND patients who visited Internal Medicine Outpatients Clinic of RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang. The data were analyzed using univariate analysis. The findings of this study revealed that most CKD-ND patients were men aged 55-65 years, had a normal body mass index, and were in stage 5 CKD, with a mean systolic pressure of 140,75 mmHg and diastolic pressure of 84,73 mmHg. The mean walking distance was 290.83m (SD 67m) for men and 255.15m (SD 56m) for women. Functional capacity was counted using oxygen consumption prediction, a majority in the low category. This research concludes that the mean walking distance of CKD-ND patients was 291m for men and 255m for women.
