Abstract

The case of juvenile sexual offender does not only affect the perpetrators and victims, but also the parents of the perpetrators. Mothers are stigmatized as parents of perpetrators so that they experience various problems in themselves from various aspects of life. To deal with existing problems in order to reduce the psychological and physical impact, mothers of adolescent sexual offenders have an attitude of self-compassion. This study aims to determine the description of self-compassion in mothers of adolescent sexual offenders. The method used in this study was a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Data collection used interviews method and informants as many as 3 people. The results of this study describe self-compassion in mothers of juvenile sexual offenders in themes, namely self-kindness, sense of connected with God and humanity, and Self-understanding
