Abstract

This study aims to show the narrative structure of survival games in Connell’s The Most Dangerous Game and Collins’ The Hunger Games. Specifically, the purpose of this analysis is to examine these several questions that the writer is attempting to answer; how are the proposition, sequence, and semantic aspects which compose both works by chosen pattern, and what is the significance of analyzing survival games in The Most Dangerous Game and The Hunger Games. The writer applies Narratology by Tzvetan Todorov using the qualitative research method. Since this study only concerns the works, reading, classifying, and analyzing were used to collect the data. The result of this study shows that two works are constructed by 18 propositions for The Most Dangerous Game and 42 Propositions for The Hunger Games. While the Sequences are the same where stories begin with the normal living conditions of X (main character), X survives for being alive, X wins the games, and stories end up with X transforming character becoming the one they swore to destroy. Furthermore, the writer concluded from the semantic aspect discussion that The Most Dangerous Game and The Hunger Games have similar main issues: power and fear. Power refers to the tools used by the authorities to oppress. It is believed to be a reason that leads to rules to cover the fear of those rulers.
