Abstract

This study aims to analyze the perception of agricultural extension workers in Padang City on applying digital media-based extension methods and the factors related to the perception of agricultural extension workers of applying the methods. This research was conducted in the work area of the agricultural extension center of Padang City, West Sumatra Province. The research method used in this study is a survey method, and all 35 agricultural extension workers in Padang City took as respondents. Data analysis using scoring method, and non-parametric statistical measurement of Spearman Rank correlation. The results showed that the perception of agricultural extension workers in the city of Padang on the application of extension methods with individual approaches (using the WhatsApp application personal chat media), groups (using WhatsApp Group Application and Laptop Infocus) and the masses (using cyber extension website media, Facebook, and Youtube) are categorized as good. Factors related to the perception of agricultural instructors in the city of Padang on the application of extension methods based on digital media based on the results of the correlation test carried out there was a significant relationship to the number of farmer groups, the area of work of agricultural extension workers and the intensity of coaching. This means that the wider the WKPP, the greater the number of farmer groups and the more frequent the guidance provided to the agricultural extension workers, the better the perception of the agricultural extension workers towards the application of digital media-based extension methods. The conclusion of the study The perception of agricultural extension workers on agricultural extension methods based on digital media is categorized as Good. Factors related to the perception of agricultural extension workers on the application of digital media-based agricultural extension methods have a significant relationship to the number of farmer groups, the number of farmer groups and the intensity of coaching.
