Abstract

Due to its profound impact on global supply chains and continuous disruptions, COVID-19 has been labelled as pandemic by WHO in March 2020. One of the most disrupted sectors by the COVID-19 widespread is tourism. With the alarming levels of contract and severity, this study aims to explore the influence of quarantined residents’ humor coping mechanism and perceived risk associated to COVID-19 pandemic toward their travel behavioral intention. This study applied quantitative exploratory with online survey technique. In this study, the questionnaire was administered to 350 quarantined Indonesian residents. The indicators were employed to address their perceived risk and travel behavior intention in the new normal phase during COVID-19 pandemic. This study found that perceived risk associated to COVID-19 pandemic has a negative influence toward the travel behavior intention. The result also showed when humor coping mechanism is equipped as a mediating variable, it significantly influences travel behavior intention, however, in the negative manner.
