Abstract
An adaptation is the transfer of a work from one medium to another, while the ex-exploration examines a more specific shift of work, namely from a literary work to a film. The study aims to see a change in adaptations from the fairy tale Sleeping Beauty to the Film Maleficent directed by Robert Stromberg in 2014. Maleficent's character in the film is portrayed differently from the fairy tale. Maleficent's rudeness is not shown. Therefore, the author used the theory of ecranization which is an approach to parse the problem of adaptation in literary works. In addition, in this study discussed why such changes can occur.
