Abstract

Fatigue is a condition where a person feels physically and mentally tired. Patients with chronic kidney disease often experience fatigue that interferes with their quality of life, especially those undergoing hemodialysis. This fatigue can be addressed through Swedish foot massage relaxation therapy. The purpose of this paper is to discuss nursing care for patients with chronic kidney disease using Swedish foot massage relaxation therapy to reduce fatigue in the men's internal ward, Wing A, Dr. M. Djamil General Hospital, Padang. The method used in this paper is a case study of nursing care implementation and the application of Evidence-Based Nursing (EBN). Based on the assessment, one of the diagnoses was fatigue. The implementation involved Swedish foot massage relaxation therapy using effleurage, petrissage, tapotement, friction, and vibration techniques twice a week for 20 minutes. Fatigue levels after implementation were measured using the Fatigue Assessment Scale (FAS) questionnaire, and fatigue scores decreased from 35 to 28. This indicates a decrease in the patient's fatigue level. Based on the above, it is recommended that nurses implement Swedish foot massage relaxation therapy as a non-pharmacological therapy to reduce fatigue in patients with chronic kidney disease.
