Abstract

This research discusses the phenomenon of the English Linguistic Landscape in three malls in Padang City. This research data is obtained from three malls in Padang City, namely Basko Mall, Plaza Andalas Mall, and Transmart Mall. This research aims to identify and find English Linguistic Landscape in three malls in Padang. This research uses a photo-taking technique to collect all the data. In analyzing the data, the writer used the theory from Landry & Bourhis (1997: 23) and supporting theories by Halliday & Matthiessen (2019). The writer found 157 English Linguistic Landscape data from the three malls. The results of this study are that Basko Grand Mall found data as much as 22 data, Plaza Andalas Mall 60 data, and Transmart Mall as much 75 data. Each data obtained is only taken based on Indonesian-English and English. This research concludes that in Transmart Mall, the most English Linguistic Landscape is found, and English is used more than Indonesian-English English are tools for communicating in public spaces.
