Abstract

Social media have become a vital part of the educational landscape. Among these platforms, Facebook serves as a vital tool for connecting Malagasy students living abroad with those in Madagascar. A breakdown in grants from the Malagasy government has led to a breakdown in the financial system for Malagasy students living abroad. In order to collectively resolve problems related to scholarships, the objective of this study is to analyses the effectiveness of using Facebook as the main means of communication to resolve problems related to scholarships and phenomenological reduction. This research analyses students' lived experience of scholarship problem solving through the social media Facebook, explores the narratives shared by research participants, focusing on the complex web of interactions that accompany their scholarship problem solving journey. The results indicate that students' lived experiences demonstrate their active involvement in actions taken to resolve scholarship-related problems. Developing the content of the Facebook propaganda required the active participation of two people. The dissemination of information by these individuals included activities such as raising awareness, sharing content and evaluating the impact of the messages on the various stakeholders. This study could serve as a valuable reference in the field of communication disciplines, particularly in the area of problem solving. It highlights the effectiveness of using Facebook as a source of information for students to address scholarship challenges, which could be a topic for future researchers wishing to explore similar themes.
