Abstract
Ocular trauma is a global health problem. Ocular trauma can be fully recovered or causes complete blindness with physical and psychological loss and enormous health treatment costs. It is a restrospective study of all the patients’s medical record with ocular trauma, included: age, sex, occupation, diagnose of ocular trauma, etiology, visual acuity at presentation, lateralisation, and treatment presenting to emergency department in RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang 2014. This study was conducted in August-November 2015. There were 361 ocular trauma ocurred in 224 patients. Most trauma frequently occurred in 12-25 year group age (33%), male predominated with 170 (75,9%) patients, and most of patients are student (29%). There were 85 (23,5%) lid laceration, majority of injuries were caused by blunt trauma with 91 (40,6%) cases, presenting visual acuity mostly 6/6-6/18 (64,4%), unilateral ocular trauma on left eye occurred in 175 (48,5%) cases, operative treatment conducted in 139 (62,1%) patients. Characteristic of 224 ocular trauma patients mostly in 12-25 year group age, male, and student. Pattern of ocular trauma predominated by lid laceration, blunt trauma as etiology, majority of patients have 6/6-6-18 presenting visual acuity, unilateral lateralisation, and mostly treated operatively.
