Abstract

Street vendors (PKL) as part of the informal sector that are emerging in major cities of Indonesia, one of them in the city of Padang. The street vendors are mostly from the people of underprivileged, marginalized by economic development or by the economic crisis. One of the weaknesses in the urban planning is not providing urban space to facilitate the activities of street vendors, so that street vendors utilize public spaces (sidewalks, parks, road, riverside area and etc.) which has impact that the public space can not be utilized well by people. Therefore reconcile economic interests with the interests of the street vendors for both and beauty of the city is a requirement that must be met by the municipality of the city in order to create visual harmony. The results using binary logistic regression, according to five variables of the street vendors/PKL that were the level of income, level of education, length of trading, the condition of facilities and the location of trading, the results showed there are three variables that influence significantly to the willingness of vendors to be relocated. The variables are the level of education, the condition of the facility and the distance of new trading location within the street vendors/PKL desired.
