Abstract

Hypertension is a hidden killer that the cause was initially (the silent killer). Hypertension is not only in adults, but it can also occur in adolescence. The prevalence of hypertension in adolescents in Indonesia reached 6-15%. Neck circumference as an index of the distribution of subcutaneous fat in the upper body and positively associated with the risk of cardio-metabolic disease that neck circumference measurement could be used to control the rise in blood pressure.The purpose of this research is to know the relationship remedy neckline with blood pressure in adolescents in Junior High School 30 Padang in 2016. This type of research is analytic with cross sectional study design and sample totaling 223 people were taken by proportional random sampling method. The results showed that of the 223 respondents, 21.2% respondents had hypertension systole and 18,8% respondent had hypertension diastole, 37.7% respondents had abnormal neck circumference. Chi-Square test showed no significant relationship between the circumference of the neck with blood pressure in adolescents p=0.000 (p <0.05). Expected to school to optimize the implementation of the program UKS mainly conduct periodic physical examination to the student / student such as measurement of blood pressure and anthropometric measurements nutrition to avoid / prevent the occurrence of hypertension and obesity in adolescents as well as working with community health centers to provide health education to students / students regarding hypertension and obesity.
