Abstract

The results of the report on those countries in the world to get the average prevalence of depression in the elderly is 13.5%. There are elderly people who receive family support such as attention, daily necessities, information and there are also some elderly people do not feel worthy or impose family.This study aims to explore and describe the experiences of the elderly with depression on family support. The method used is a qualitative research with phenomenological approach with in-depth interviews. Selection of participants was taken by purposive sampling. The number of participants in this study were five elderly people with mild depression in the region work PHC Belimbing. Data collected in the form of recording the interview that comes with using a technique Collaizi's.The results of the study identified two main themes The results of the study identified two main themes, namely a sense of worth that is part of the family and a sense of inappropriate that is a burden to the family. This study provides advice to the health center to be able to pay attention to the elderly and to provide a home visit if the elderly do not go to health care, so that the elderly who are depressed can not be depressed again and run the old age with peace and peaceful.
