Abstract

In recent times there has been significant concern that human economic and consumption activity is the principle cause of global warming. The effect of global warming itself has already shown. Flood and extreme whether is examples of the situation. The global warming is caused by the green house gases that produce carbon dioxide (CO2). The CO2 is produced by the burning of fossil fuel. If the fossil fuel burning is reduces it’s expected to reduce the global warming as well. This study aims to determine the reduction in cost and CO2 emission that PT Semen Padang created in order to shows their responsibility as manufacturing company to their environment. In this research, the data is analyzed by using qualitative to describe the real condition of the object. The efficiency ratio of total cement produced to total electricity usage in the year 2009 is 0.0091 Ton/kWh, 0.0099 Ton/kWh in the year 2010 and 0.0097 in the year 2011. The total electricity usage efficiency for the year 2010 and 2011 is efficient for 19,450,419 kWh. The electricity cost efficiency for the year 2010 and 2011 is efficient for Rp. 14,879,570,535. And the reduction of CO2 for the year 2010 and 2011 for 20,948 Ton. For PT Semen Padang there are several recommendation for better performance in carbon cost management.
