Abstract

This study aimed to determine the butterfly species at Solok Botanical Garden, Solok Regency, West Sumatra. The butterflies were collected by using insect net, cylindrical gauze with a fruit bait and sand substrate from June to July 2020. This study found 58 species of butterflies belonging to four families and 32 genera. In the Nymphalidae family, 44 species were identified, while in Pieridae there were six species, Lycaenidae four species, and Papilionidae four species. Moreover, in this study, the Species with the highest individual number was Mycalesis janardana (115 individuals). Based on the results of this research, it can be concluded that as many as 58 species of butterflies have been identified that belong to four families with 24 particular species which never been reported by the previous studies in several locations in West Sumatra.
