Abstract

Nowadays, animation technology changes rapidly, especially in 3D modelling animation. Therefore, researchers competing to research in this field to make computing animation easier, faster, and sophisticated. Motion Capture (MOCAP) technology is a method for recording the motions directly from actors and converting them into mathematical data. MOCAP is applied in 3D model animation. MOCAP technology goal is to capture the position, motion, and orientation of an object in real space and then record data into the digital world. One of the MOCAP systems is markerless MOCAP. Markerless MOCAP is simpler and cheaper than standard MOCAP technology, which uses a depth sensor camera such as Microsoft Kinect. MOCAP technology can be used for analyzing an ergonomics study. This final project deals with obtaining posture and motion data with markerless MOCAP then analyzed and can be used by ergonomists, engineers, and designers to create and develop better products with digital human models by using markerless MOCAP. This final project presents an applicability evaluation of Kinect sensor’s motion-capture performance to be used for ergonomics assessments. In particular, the Ovako Working-posture Analysis System (OWAS) is applied as a reference. Microsoft Kinect V1 motion-capture accurately captures 11 out of 14 full body of OWAS postures for assessments. Three primary sources of limitations have been revealed. Data processing is done using the Blender application to process motion data, and the Kinovea application is used to analyze the accuracy of the recorded motion data using a markerless device called Microsoft Xbox Kinect 1.0 version.
