Abstract
This study aims to analyze the motivation of Turkey's foreign aid to Somalia starting in 2011. This is important because Turkey is providing 93.39% of foreign aid to Somalia. This is interesting because Turkey claims that the assistance provided is not based on political interests. The conceptual framework used is donor interest which divides the country's interest in the international system based on interests and values which are then categorized into four parts namely trade, security, historical ties, and religion. The method used is qualitative analytical descriptive approach that uses secondary data. The result of this research is that Turkey's motivation to provide assistance to Somalia is to gain support and display a positive image as a peaceful and humane country. The strong historical ties between Turkey and Somalia and the similarity of religious identity between them also the main drivers for Turkey to provide foreign aid to Somalia. This is also reinforced by Turkey's foreign policy which currently focuses on Africa and other Muslim countries, such as Somalia. Keywords: Turkey, Somalia, foreign aid, donor motives.
