Abstract

Partial discharge most strongly influenced by humidity. The humidity will be effect on the testing to be performed. It is necessary for testing in a few same samples with time variation in order to determine the lifetime of insulating polymer. In this study conducted a research to determine the damage to the insulating polymer caused by partial discharge. Polymer samples used were LDPE with optimizing methods and test equipment. File is read using DPO 5104 oscilloscope and LabVIEW program. This research was conducted by using 4 samples and the same voltage with the variation of time are 1 minute, 3 minutes, 5 minutes and 7 minutes. Information can be obtained is partial discharge is influenced by time and the rest of the release of large high voltage AC. Based on the results of these measurements show that the charge contained in the insulation in one minute is greater than the next variation time. This is because the longer time of charge that flowed into the sample will make of the resistance of sample will decrease, so the charge will had partial discharge because of the decline of insulation resistance. This condition is also affected by the humidity on the test site. Key words: Partial Discharge, Humidity, LDPE, LabVIEW
