Abstract
Science and technology continued to show progress each year, along with the level of demand for industrial products, especially machinery and automotive. Automotive companies working to improve the quality of products produced by various means, one of which is to develop operator performance and productivity of production machines. Training to be the best alternative to solve these problems, but it requires no small cost. Another alternative that can be used is to maintain communication between operators in order to avoid misinformation. The information gathered and integrated to form a science (knowledge). In order for knowledge can be managed properly applied a Knowledge Management. At this time research, fields of knowledge management to be discussed is the machining uses abrasive particles, one polishing machine. Polishing is the process of refining the surface of the workpiece to produce a very smooth surface and slippery. In this study, discussed the design of a knowledge management system at the surface and cylindrical polishing. The study of knowledge management in this study is the optimal parameter-determination in the use of surface and cylindrical polishing machine. This study aimed to design a decision support system (DSS). Steps being taken in this research is to develop an information system using the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC), which consists of the analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance. In this study only done until implementation of system development by making a program and examine whether these programs are in accordance with the identification. At this stage of the analysis, the modeling methods used by Integration Definition Language 0 (IDEF0) to conduct a thorough analysis of each part of the system are discussed. Then on the design, we will design a database based on previous analyses. In the process of development of information systems used in information technology. Furthermore, the implementation phase of the development of this system in the form of application programming to determine the optimal parameters. By using the application, application users can find out the estimated value of Material Removal Rate (MRR) and Surface Roughness (Roughness).
