Abstract
This study aims to determine the performance of broiler chickens raised without litter and using Day Old Chick (DOC) litter until 15 days old in an Open House type raised cage in a partnership with PT. Andalan Sehat Malindo Group in the Rokan Hulu region. The case study method used a qualitative descriptive approach. The results showed that broiler chickens raised without litter during seven periods were: First, the average feed intake was: Sukadno: 2,727 kg; Sukadno II: 2,692 kg; Sumarno: 2,769 kg; and Irwan Hsb: 2,569 kg/bird. Second, the average depletion was: Sukadno: 2.69%; Sukadno II: 3.09%; Sumarno: 4.54%; and Irwan Hsb: 4.95%. Third, the average final body weights were: Sukadno: 1,826 kg; Sukadno II: 1,865 kg; Sumarno: 1,954 kg; and Irwan Hsb: 1,791 kg/head. Fourth, the average feed conversion ratio (FCR) was: Sukadno: 1,509; Sukadno II: 1,501; Sumarno: 1,486; and Irwan Hsb: 1,542. Fifth, the average harvest age was: Sukadno: 30.93 days; Sukadno II: 30.55 days, Sumarno: 31.23 days; and Irwan Hsb: 30.82 days. Sixth, the average performance index (IP) was: Sukadno I: 382; Sukadno II: 386; Sumarno: 402; and Irwan Hsb: 360. While broiler chicken maintenance uses litter from DOC until the age of 15 days for seven periods, namely: First, the average feed consumption is respectively: Mangara Sinaga: 2,651 kg and Karjiyo: 2,226 kg/head. Second, the average depletion is respectively: Mangara Sinaga: 5.97% and Karjiyo: 4.59%. Third, the average final body weight is respectively: Mangara Sinaga: 1,788 kg and Karjiyo: 1,519 kg/head. Fourth, the average FCR is respectively: Mangara Sinaga: 1,564 and Karjiyo: 1,538. Fifth, the average harvest age is respectively: 30.82 days; and 29.14 days. Sixth, the average IP is respectively: Mangara Sinaga: 351; and Karjiyo: 324. Conclusion: The performance of broiler chickens raised without litter is better than that of broiler chickens raised without litter from DOC until 15 days of age.
