Abstract

Endometriosis is a gynecological disorder characterized by the growth of endometrial-like tissue outside the uterine cavity. Diagnosis of endometriosis in most women is often delayed, leading to unrecognized manifestations. This study aims to describe the clinicopathological profile of endometriosis at RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang from 2020 to 2023. This research utilized a retrospective descriptive design, involving 309 patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria during the 2020-2023 period and were included in the study sample. The research instruments consisted of secondary data obtained from request forms, anatomical pathology examination results, and medical records of patients diagnosed with endometriosis. The findings of this study revealed that the majority of patients were in the reproductive age group (96.1%), nulliparous (83.8%), and had a normal body weight (51.1%). The most common clinical symptom was dysmenorrhea (88.0%). Dyspareunia and dysuria were reported by only 1.0% of patients each, and no cases of dyschezia or urinary urgency were observed. Most patients exhibited normal urinary frequency (77.7%). Chocolate cysts were the most common type of endometrioma identified (85.1%). Additionally, 48.2% of patients presented with nodules, and a significant proportion experienced infertility (83.8%). This study concludes that endometriosis is prevalent among women of reproductive age, with dysmenorrhea being the most common clinical manifestation. Efforts such as patient education, improved data recording, establishing diagnostic standards, and conducting prospective studies are necessary to enhance diagnostic accuracy and management of endometriosis.
