Abstract

This thesis is a study in the translation of a text from a source language into the target language, this research aims to study and find the most frequent translation procedure used in the translation of English prepositional phrases and its Indonesian translation, this research uses the book Animal Farm as a source of data. The researcher is suing the theory of Vinay and Darbelnet model of translation procedure for analysing and categorising the prepositional phrases. In conducting research, the researcher mainly uses the qualitative approach for descripting the translation, and also use quantitative step to quantify the data that is gathered from the novel. The result is that the most frequent translation procedure used is the Literal, the second is the Modulation, the third is Transposition with, and the last is Calque. These result shows the understanding of how translation procedure used in translating and language usage.
