Abstract

Concentration test of gambir (Uncaria gambir (Hunter) Roxb) Leaves extracts against the development of root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne spp.) on tomato plants (licopersicum esculentum mill) was conducted in the green house and laboratory. The objective of this research was to determine the best concentration of gambir leaves extract in controlling root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne spp.). Randomized Block Design was used with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments were concentrations of gambir leaves extract (0, 2, 4, 6, 8 %). The extract was applied by dripping it leaves gambir in the planting media (soil). The parameter observased were plant height, number of root-knot, the number of eggs groups, the number of eggs in a group, the number of nematodes in roots tissue, and the number of nematodes in soil samples. The data analized by ANOVA and Least Significant Different (LSD) at 5% level of significance. The result showed that application of gambir leaves extract was able to suppress the development of root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne spp.) and the best concentration of extract to suppress nematode development was 8%, with the average suppression 69,77%.
