Abstract
This research presents the design and usability evaluation of a user interface (UI) prototype for the Decision Support System (DSS) at a Nuclear Energy Regulatory Body. The objective was to create a user-friendly and effective UI using the User-Centered Design (UCD) method. The research began by specifying the context of use and user requirements through semi-structured interviews and online forms with eight employees, leading to the development of user personas and a sitemap. Based on these findings, low-fidelity and high-fidelity prototypes were designed using Figma. The usability of the prototype was then evaluated through usability testing using Maze and the System Usability Scale (SUS) questionnaire. The results of the evaluation demonstrated that the prototype successfully met all of the predefined usability metrics, achieving an overall Maze usability score of 87, a Maze Usability Score (MAUS) of 76,767, and a System Usability Scale (SUS) score of 82,8125, which corresponds to an "Excellent" rating and “A” grade. These scores all exceeded their respective target values, indicating that the designed UI is effective, efficient, and satisfactory for its users. The findings suggest that the prototype is a viable and robust solution for improving decision-making processes, with recommendations for future development and implementation.
