Abstract

Lembah Gumanti district is the largest shallot producer in Solok Regency. Shallot production in Lembah Gumanti district in 2024 reached 140,044 tons. However, the use of fertilizers and pesticides over normal limits. This research aims to describe the internal and external factors and to formulate strategies for development of shallot farming in Lembah Gumanti district. This research was conducted in Lembah Gumanti district, Solok regency, from December 2023 to January 2024. The research used qualitative research with descriptive method. There are three stages on formulating the strategy. First, inputing stage using IFE and EFE matrix. Second, matching stage using SWOT matrix. Third, decision-making stage using QSPM matrix. It is found that based on the QSPM analysis, there are four alternative strategies obtained. First, improving the use of digital technology for agricultural management. Second, campaigning environmentally sustainable agriculture. Third, developing climate-resilient agricultural systems. Fourth, revitalizing farmer groups to improve farmers motivation.
