Abstract

PENGARUH LIFESTYLE DAN LOCAL FOOD TERHADAP PEMILIHAN DESTINASI WISATA DI KOTA BUKITTINGGI DENGAN EATING EXPERIENCE SEBAGAI VARIABEL MEDIASI ABSTRAK Kota Bukittinggi merupakan salah satu destinasi wisata unggulan di Provinsi Sumatera Barat yang mengalami peningkatan kunjungan wisatawan secara signifikan. Meningkatnya jumlah kunjungan menunjukkan bahwa kebutuhan dan keinginan wisatawan—yang tercermin dalam gaya hidup—semakin beragam. Makanan lokal suatu destinasi juga menjadi elemen penting yang membentuk kualitas pengalaman perjalanan wisata. Oleh karena itu, gaya hidup wisatawan dan makanan lokal yang tersedia menjadi faktor penting dalam menentukan keputusan pemilihan destinasi wisata. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh gaya hidup dan makanan lokal terhadap pemilihan destinasi wisata di Kota Bukittinggi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) dengan bantuan software SmartPLS 4.0 terhadap 213 responden wisatawan nusantara yang berasal dari luar Provinsi Sumatera Barat dan bukan bersuku Minangkabau. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa gaya hidup dan makanan lokal berpengaruh signifikan terhadap pemilihan destinasi wisata. Artinya, pemilihan destinasi wisata dapat terbentuk apabila terdapat kesesuaian antara gaya hidup wisatawan dengan karakteristik destinasi, serta tersedianya makanan lokal yang otentik dan mudah diakses. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan pengembangan strategi promosi yang inovatif dan peningkatan kualitas penyajian makanan lokal untuk mendorong minat wisatawan berkunjung ke Bukittinggi dan merekomendasikannya kepada orang lain. Kata Kunci: Gaya Hidup; Makanan Lokal; Pemilihan Destinasi Wisata THE INFLUENCE OF LIFESTYLE AND LOCAL FOOD ON TOURIST DESTINATION CHOICE IN BUKITTINGGI WITH EATING EXPERIENCE AS A MEDIATING VARIABLE ABSTRACT Bukittinggi City is one of the leading tourist destinations in West Sumatra Province, experiencing a significant increase in tourist visits. This growth indicates that tourist needs and preferences—reflected through their lifestyle—are becoming increasingly diverse. Local food in a destination also plays a crucial role in shaping the quality of the travel experience. Therefore, tourists' lifestyles and the availability of local food are important factors in determining destination choice. This study aims to analyze the influence of lifestyle and local food on the selection of Bukittinggi as a tourist destination. The research employs Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using SmartPLS 4.0 software with a sample of 213 domestic tourists from outside West Sumatra Province and not of Minangkabau ethnicity. The results show that both lifestyle and local food significantly influence the selection of a tourist destination. In other words, a destination is more likely to be chosen when there is alignment between tourists' lifestyles and the destination’s characteristics, along with authentic and accessible local food offerings. Therefore, it is necessary to develop innovative promotional strategies and improve the quality of local food presentation to increase tourist interest in visiting Bukittinggi and recommending it to others.
