Abstract

everyone goes through early adulthood, a phase where people often start to feel the desire to build romantic relationship for various reasons. these relationships are commonly referred to as dating. for individuals in early adulthood, dating can be important as it provides emotional support and a sense of being understood. however, dating relationships can also involve unpleasant behaviors, including acts of violence. this study discusses dating violence experienced by some active student at Andalas University. the purpose of this research is to discribe the form of dating violence, how it happens, and to explain its cause and impacts. the research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach.Data were collected through literature study, observation, and in-depth interviews. Informants were selected using a snowball sampling technique. The results show that dating violence does occur among students at Andalas University. The types of violence found include physical, psychological, sexual, and economic violence. The data also show that women are more likely to be victims of dating violence. Additionally, very few people involved in violent relationships are willing to talk about their experiences with others. Keywords: students, dating, violence
