Abstract
Local Microorganisms (LMO) made from organic waste with the addition of golden apple snails and legumes were gradually fermented for four weeks. This research was conducted from February to June 2019 in the Greenhouse and Microbiology Laboratory of the Biology Department, Mathematics and Natural Sciences Faculty, Andalas University. The purpose of this study are to find out the comparison of groups and the total number of microorganisms that contained in LMO with EM4 and to find out the quality of compost produced using LMO and EM4. This study used survey and experimental method with EM4 as a control. The results of this study are the isolation in LMO obtained microbial groups including bacteria, fungi and yeast were found to be higher in LMO (L4) than in EM4 with the number of bacteria 1.7×105 cfu/ml, fungi 9.6×104 cfu/ml and yeast 1.9×105 cfu/ml. The quality of compost produced from the composting process using M4 and EM4 has the same distinctive aroma of compost and has the same texture but its different in terms of final pH, final temperature, and color.
