Abstract

This study wanted to see the nuclear case occurred in the Korean Peninsula. The dispute betwewt North Korea and South Korea that began in the pre-Cold War era. The peak was when the North Korean fiercely develop their nuclear in the Korean Peninsula, which is considered harmfiil to South Korea. UN Security Council, whose role is keeping the world peace and security also reacted and issued sanctions to North Korea. The problems addressed in this study were: (I) How does the role of the UN Security Council in addressing the nuclear case in the Korean Peninsula? And (2) What are the implications of the UN Security Councilactions in addressing the Korean Peninsula nuclear case related to the world peace and security? This study uses ncnmative juridical research methods. The data used are secondary data obtained from primary and secondary legal materials. The data were collected by literature study. Methods of processing and data analysis was qualitative analysis methods. The results of this study are as follows: The role of the UN Security Council in the nuclear case in the Korean Peninsula is to perform actions that started from the investigation and preventive diplomacy to keepthe international peace and security, followed by issuing resolutions and sanctions to North Korea with theapproval from permanent and temporary members of the Security Council that North Korea would halt thenuclear development activities that could threaten world peace, (2) The security Council in addressing thenuclear case in the Korean Peninsula have implications for the world peace and securiQ', especially securi^and peace in the Korean Peninsula itself. Various resolutions and sanctions issued by the UN SecurityCouncil against Nwth Korea still have not fully met by North Kcwea.
