Abstract

This study discusses personal references in the Terms and Conditions text of five platforms: Gojek, Bukalapak, MyTelkomsel, Tokopedia, and Traveloka. Qualitative research methodology is used for a careful reading approach in collecting data. The writer categorizes the data to make it easier to distinguish between Source Text (ST) and Target Text (TT). This study adopts the pronoun theory of Halliday and Hasan (1976). The results of the analysis show 232 occurrences of the personal references "anda" in Syarat dan Ketentuan Gojek text (ST), which has syntactic functions as subject, object, and possessive. Additionally, 95 occurrences of the personal references "your" are identified in the translated Gojek Terms and Conditions (TT), most of which function as possessive. Five out of eighteen translations technique proposed by Molina and Albir (2002) are identified in this study. Although most of the pronouns in TT are literal translations from ST, various other techniques are also observed. In addition, this study also incorporates the translations technique proposed by Nida (1964) and Ayora (1977). The results show that translators use diverse strategies to produce accurate and natural translations in the target text.
