Abstract

Katekin merupakan kandungan utama ekstrak tanaman gambir (Uncaria gambir Roxb). Katekin termasuk senyawa polifenol dari kelompok flavonoid yang mempunyai efek sebagai antijamur karena dapat menghambat pertumbuhan jamur Candida albicans penyebab denture stomatitis pada pengguna gigi tiruan resin akrilik. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh berbagai konsentrasi larutan katekin isolat gambir (Uncaria gambir Roxb) dalam menghambat pertumbuhan Candida albicans pada plat resin akrilik. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental laboratorium dengan desain post test only control group. Plat resin akrilik sebanyak 25 buah berukuran 10 mm x 10 mm x 1 mm dikontaminasi dengan Candida albicans lalu direndam dalam 5 kelompok perlakuan yaitu akuades, larutan katekin isolat gambir konsentrasi 6,25%, 12,5%, 25%, dan 50%. Sisa perlekatan Candida albicans dihitung dengan metode total plate count dan jumlah koloni dihitung dengan Colony Counter. Analisis data penelitian ini menggunakan One Way ANOVA. Hasil analisis menunjukkan larutan katekin isolat gambir konsentrasi 6,25%, 12,5%, 25%, dan 50% memiliki perbedaan yang bermakna (p<0.001) dengan akuades terhadap pertumbuhan Candida albicans pada plat resin akrilik. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa larutan katekin isolat gambir konsentrasi 6,25%, 12,5%, 25%, dan 50% memiliki pengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan Candida albicans pada plat resin akrilik dengan konsentrasi maksimal 25% dan konsentrasi minimal dibawah 6,25%. Kata kunci: katekin isolat gambir, antijamur, Candida albicans, plat resin akrilik. ABSTRACT Catechins are the main compound of extracts gambir (Uncaria gambir Roxb). Catechins include to polyphenolic compounds from the group of flavonoids as an antifungal because it can inhibit the growth of Candida albicans cause of denture stomatitis in patient has been using denture acrylic resin. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of various concentration of gambir (Uncaria gambir Roxb) isolate catechins in inhibited the growth of Candida albicans on acrylic resin plate. This research was an experimental research laboratory using post test only control group design. Acrylic resin of plate of 25 pieces sized 10 mm x 10 mm x 1 mm contaminated with Candida albicans and then soaked in 5 groups which are aquades, the solution gambir isolates catechins concentration of 6.25%, 12.5%, 25% and 50%. Remained attachment Candida albicans is calculated by total plate count method and the number of colonies counted by Colony Counter. Data analyzed of this research using One Way ANOVA . The results showed solution gambir isolate catechins concentration of 6.25%, 12.5%, 25%, and 50% had a significant difference (p<0.001) with aquades to the growth of Candida albicans on acrylic resin plate. The conclusion of this research proven that the solution of gambir isolate catechins concentration of 6.25%, 12.5%, 25%, and 50% has effect to the growth of Candida albicans on acrylic resin plate with a maximum concentration of 25 % and a minimum concentration below 6.25%.
