Abstract

Violence against women is an act that deprives women’s right in Afghanistan. This act has occurred in physical, sexual, verbal / psychological, and economic forms in Afghanistan. UN Women as an Organitation which focusses on women’s issues have been tried to settle women’s empowerment and gender equality in Afghanistan. UN Women is working with the Afghan’s government to develop, monitoring the policies implementation and programs that protect women's rights. In this study, author using the concept of the role of the International Organization to analyze the role of UN Women in Afghanistan in five components: creating public awareness, assisting the government in lawmaking, facilitating NGOs, human resources development, and assisting a national, regional, and international scale of cooperation. This research using a descriptive-qualitative method to explain the fenomena. Author found that UN Women has helped embrace various parties to rise awareness about women's rights, helping the implementation of UNSCR 1325, and increase the capacity of local NGOs in order to reduce violence against women cases in Afghanistan.
