Abstract
Postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) is a leading cause of maternal mortality. There are some risk factors contribute to the development of PPH, such as age, parity, birth intervals, bad delivery history, anemia and mother’s education level. According to the Ministry of Health, Republic of Indonesia in 2013, PPH is responsible for 30.3% of maternal deaths in Indonesia. The purpose of this research was to determine the association between risk factors and postpartum hemorrhage. This study used an observational analytic with case control study and the data were collected retrospectively from January 2013December 2015. Thus research was conducted in the medical records department. Total samples included 96 people, divided into 2 groups: postpartum hemorrhage (48 people) and the control group (48 people). Samples were obtained by simple random sampling method. The data has analyzed by Chi Square test. The results showed that the characteristisc PPH tended to be more common in 20 34 years old (66.7%), multiparous (89.6%), birth intervals > 2 years (54.2%), without bad delivery history (52.1%), anemia (70.8%) and low education level (70.8%). The results showed that there was significant relationship between anemia (P = 0.000, OR = 7.286); bad delivery history (P = 0.009, OR = 3.496). It could be concluded that anemia and bad delivery history were significant risk factor contribute to the occurance of PPH. Keywords: postpartum hemorrhage, anemia, bad delivery history. OR = 7,286); riwayat persalinan buruk (P = 0,009, OR = 3,496).
