Abstract

Research on Wood Anatomy Studies of Three Types of Fagaceae Trees in the Biological Education and Research Forest was carried out in August – December 2022. Samples were collected from the Biological Education and Research Forest, Andalas University, and anatomical observations were carried out at the Plant Structure and Development Laboratory, Andaalasan University, Padang. This research aims to determine the existence of growth rings and anatomical structures in several Fagaceae tree species. This research was carried out using the collection method on several types of Fagaceae tree wood. Anatomical observations used the Sass method (1958) with transverse, radial and tangential incisions. Followed by the maceration technique. The results obtained for Fagaceae trees did not reveal clear growth rings. The three Fagaceae species consist of lying cells and upright cells in the heterocellular category. The vessel distribution type of Fagaceae is diffuse ring porous and the radius type of Fagaceae is uniseriate, the fiber type of Fagaceae is classified as medium fiber.
