Abstract
This research aims to analyze the perception held by the Japanese for the increased aggressiveness of the Chinese military from 2010 to 2013. In line with the increase in the Chinese defense, aggressiveness of this country in the East China Sea also increased. Moreover, historical and territorial claims between China and Japan over the ownership of the Senkaku Islands, along with the construction ADIZ unilaterally by China, accompanied by high Chinese aggressiveness in the East China Sea and in the region makes Japan has its own perception of the increase in China's military aggressiveness. This research uses the concept of perception, according to Robert Jervis that consisting of images beliefs, and intentions. By looking through the beliefs, images and intentions, this research found that the perception of the Japanese against the Chinese actions as dangerous and aggressive attitude to the security of Japan.
