Abstract

The purpose of this research are 1)Identified the gambier’sstrading path in Kenagarian Barung–Barung Balantai Kecamatan Koto XI Tarusan Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan and 2) Analizing the rasio of profit level which accepeted by gambier’sfarmers and the distributors who was involved the trading path in KenagarianBarung - BarungBalantai. The Method which is used for this research is survey method. The sampling method is proportional random sampling from six group gambier’s farmer which is there in KenagarianBarung – BarungBalantai. The sampling method is done base on the involvement of the farmers in gambier’s trading until in exporter level. Result of the research was analyzed by qualitative and quantitative analysis. From the result of research there are two trading path of gambier’s in KenagarianBarung – BarungBalantai, such 1)farmers sell gambier to the collector merchant, collector merchant sell gambier to the big merchant, than the big merchant sell it to the exportir, and 2) farmers sell gambier to big merchant directly than the big merchant sell it to the exporter. Farmers get the biggest profit than the distributor in the first trading parth and the second one. In the first trading path (path 1)of gambiers, profit level to the end priceof farmers,collector merchant, big merchant and exportir in sequences are 15,26 %, 4,79%, 3,68%and 4,36% and the profit level to the total profit in sequences are 54,30% , 17,05% , 13,12% and 15,53%. Second trading path of gambier (Path II) the profit level which is get by farmers, collector merchant, big merchant and exportir in sequences are 16,14%, 9,19% , and 4,36to the end of price and 54,36% , 30,96%, and 14,48% to the total profit. In order to the farmers in trading path I get bigger profit like the farmer in trading path II, as well the farmers should sell their gambier’s directly to the big merchant. Beside that, in order to the farmers don’t get any trouble in getting information about the price and also in bargaining, farmers should make an organization which can be a fasilitator in distributing the crop of gambier like making a cooperation. With it exist, the farmers expected can get important information easier to market their crop.
