Abstract

Research that has been done by Astuti and Sabeni (2005), covers the relationship of intellectual capital (made up of human capital, customer capital and structural capital) and organizational performance. This study used a model testing as diamond specification recommended by Bontis (1998). With this model, customer capital is not directly related to structural capital, unless directly related to organizational performance. Astuti and Sabeni (2005) proves that human capital influence to the customer capital is positively significant. Human capital influence to the structural capital is also positively significant. In the other hand, structural capital influence to the organizational performance also significant, while the customer capital influence to organizational performance is positive but not significant. Astuti and Sabeni (2005) also concluded that by knowledge, tacit knowledge, human capital capable to create positive values of customer capital for the company. Most of the previous studies have been concentrated on the Business sector. However, this thesis provided an opportunity to broaden the perspective by applying the knowledge gained from previous business studies to other sectors. The reason why author chose to study intellectual capital in the not for profit sector was the increased attention in media on how not for profits organization perform.
