Abstract
Car braking on the down-road caused the temperature of the drum brake increase rapidly due to friction. If the temperature at drum brake reaches too high, the brake will unable to work properly. This can lead to an accident. Therefore, the alarm system, such as a sensor that read the temperature of the brake, to help the driver know the condition of the brake is needed This final project is to build a sensor that can detect the temperature of car’s brake using sensor infrared thermometer MLX 90614 based Arduino microcontroller as a control unit. Detection of temperature on the brake is done by mounting the sensor MLX 90614 on the drum brake. The sensors are connected to the Arduino microcontroller as the control unit by setting the maximum temperature tolerable limits. In case of the temperature in the drum brake car reaches the maximum limit, the sensor will send a signal to the Arduino microcontroller, as a warning to the driver of the vehicle and set alarm and LED light on. Research has been successfully done with the good level of temperature precision and accuracy. So that it can be applied to vehicle as a warning system.
