Abstract
ABSTRACT Results of Low Dose Rate and High Dose Rate Brachytherapy in Stage IIB-IIIB Cervical Cancer : A Systematic Review By Nabila Khoirunnisa The main treatment for stage IIB-IIIB cervical cancer is chemoradiation. One of the radiotherapy treatments used is high dose rate and low dose rate brachytherapy. This review was conducted to find out which is better between high dose rate and low dose rate brachytherapy. This study is a systematic review using the PRISMA guideline. Three electronic databases were used is Pubmed, TRIP, CENTRAL databases. Articles were searched using inclusion and exclusion criteria. The research question used the PICO formula. The keywords used refer to the MeSH terms. Total of 9 studies were included in the systematic review. Only one review compared low dose rate and high dose rate. The results of treatment between low dose rate and high dose rate showed no significant difference. The most common complications of HDR brachytherapy were gastrointestinal and genitourinary. The use of lesser fractionation HDR brachytherapy is very beneficial in developing countries. Patient comfort and compliance will increase so as to prevent the discontinuation of treatment in the middle of the road. Keywords: cervical cancer, brachytherapy, low dose rate, high dose rate
