Abstract
The major ligaments of the knee joint consists of ACL, PCL, MCL and LCL. Major ligament injuries often occur because due to the contact with the external environment such as sports and transportation especially in young men. This is a descriptive study with total sampling design. The data was collected from medical record, and the variable of this study were based on sex, age, mechanism of injury, side of injury and therapy options. This study aimed to determine the profile of patients with major ligaments of the knee injury in Dr. M. Djamil Padang Hospital in 2018-2020. The results showed that there 130 patients with major ligament injuries who had MRI examination. ACL occured in 123 injuries (80.39%), 22 PCL injuries (14.38%), 7 LCL injuries (4.58%) and 1 MCL injury (0.65%). The incidence frequently found in men with 102 patients (78.46%) and women 28 patients (21.54%) and mostly in the age group of 18-35 years with 84 patients (64.62%). There were 87 patients (66.92%) suffered injuries due to participating in sports such as football, basketball, skateboarding, badminton and martial arts. Often injure the right knee (56.9%) and 89.5% of the patients were reconstructed followed by physiotherapy. The conclusion of this study are the most often injured is ACL, mostly in men, often found in the age of 18-35 years with the most common cause of injury is trauma on sports, the most common side of injury is the right knee, and 89,5% of 130 patients had reconstructive surgery through arthroscopy.
