Abstract
The West Sumatra Liaison Agency is one of the West Sumatra Provincial Government organizations that is the only one outside the West Sumatra area. This organization has several activities that involve nomads. In the West Sumatra Liaison Agency, there are personnel who carry out their duties in direct contact with migrants. This study aims to describe, find facts and interpret the communication of West Sumatra Liaison Agency personnel in obtaining support from migrants. Exploring the awareness of West Sumatra Liaison Agency personnel. This study uses a qualitative method with Husserl's phenomenological approach. The data analysis technique used is epoche, eidetic and transcendental reduction. As a reference in processing data, researchers use symbolic interaction theory and interpersonal communication. The results of the study are: 1) Liaison Agency personnel are more adaptive and pay attention to ethics in communicating with migrants. Personnel who are organizational officials are more flexible and communicate more frequently with migrants directly than personnel with general functional status, 2) Personnel who are organizational officials feel the responsibility of protecting as fellow migrants, while personnel with general functional status feel that migrants are only the object of work, 3) The meaning of communication for personnel with official status is as a means of providing understanding to migrants regarding job boundaries and establishing friendship, while for personnel with general functional status, communication is part of channeling the aspirations of the nomads.
