Abstract
Anemia is a public health problem that is often found, unexcept for adolescent girls which can have a serious impact when an adolescent girl becomes a mother, so efforts are needed to prevent and overcome anemia in adolescent girls. Purpose: This study aims to identify prevention of anemia in adolescent girls. Methods: This type of research is a literature review by browsing articles in several databases. The databases that the researchers used were Pubmed, ScienceDirect, ProQuest, and Garuda with a range of 2016-2020. Researchers used PRISMA flow diagrams as a guide literature review process. Articles are searched using keywords that the researcher has specified. After being selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, 5 articles were found to be reviewed. Results: Literature review found that the prevention of anemia among adolescent are iron supplementation, diet diversity, and food fortification. All studies show an increase in hemoglobin levels after the intervention and fortified beetroot extract has the highest increase in Hb levels compared to other prevention. This could be due to differences in research methods, number of samples, and duration of the intervention. Conclusion: All methods (iron supplementation, food fortification, and diet diversity) containing iron, protein, and iron enhancer play a role in formation of hemoglobin, so that it can overcome anemia in adolescent girls. It is suggested that education and health institutions, as well as support from other sectors (multisector) can make more varied programs to prevent anemia in adolescent girls. Keywords : anemia, adolescent girls, prevention References : 94 (2006-2020)
