Abstract

This thesis analyze about the effect of intercultural marriage between English people and Italian people in Forster‘s first novel Where Angels Fear to Tread (1905). The effect of intercultural marriage that found in the novel is family conflict and society conflict between English people and Italian people. This thesis also explain about Forster‘s view as English toward intercultural marriage between English people and Italian people. The result of the analysis showed that the effect is ruin marriage life, ruin moral value in family and society. It is represent in the novel Where Angels Fear to Tread. This research used Sociology of Literature and Towards Building a Conceptual Framework on Intermarriage.
