Abstract

2023 Indonesian Health Survey found that the highest prevalence of mental health problem was in West Java (4,4%). Aged group of 15-24 had the second-highest prevalence of mental health problems (2,8%). This study aims to determine which factors associated most with adolescent mental health problem (aged 16-18) in West Java. This is a cross-sectional design study using micro data from 2023 Indonesian Health Survey with 1.982 samples. The process of analysis start with univariate, bivariate, until multivariate analysis. This study start from May 2025 until January 2026. Common mental health problems symptoms found among 16-18 aged adolescents in West Java are difficulty to sleep, headaches, feel of tension, worry and anxiety. Female adolescents are more likely to experience the symptoms of mental health problems than male adolescents (PR > 1). The most associated factor with adolescent mental health problems in West Java is gender (p-value 0,001 and adjusted PR 6,3). Female adolescents are more likely to have symptoms of mental health problems. The local government, working across sectors, needs to identify what are the needs of adolescents female in case of their mental health wellness.
